Pearls & Feathers.

So the wedding i'm shooting tomorrow is going to be delicously decorated.  I actually am looking forward to the fun details this bride & groom have in store for us!  She did mention feathers and pearls...and while i was thinking about what i wanted to WEAR....i had an idea pop in...

Letz go into my closet and look for something inspired by this!

I have an older dress bought at Ross a long time ago that is very lacy, sheer feeling, with blue velvet and simple sequins....then i remembered, oh yes - last Christmas...my good friend bought me a fabulous blue feather plume clip to wear in my hair.  *score* again.  THEN...I remember, my great-grandma's belt of pearls to be worn as a belt or necklace that was given to me.  I know this picture doesn't do it justice...but at tomorrow's wedding...I'll take a picture IN the outfit you will see.

You see, the bride is letting me be myself. YAY.

So in order to keep the professionalism, i'm wearing my black "work" pants underneath so I can have the freedom of crawling around and moving without worry. The lacey undershirt is to protect everything else from showing as well! lol!  Then my comfy shoes to keep my feet happy.  Neon stripey sox.  I look forward to having fun & sharing in all the creativity.

I'm praying for peace, creativity and ideas...and innovations while there.

I know that my dreams are closer than I think.

When i start getting calls from new york city....this is when i get really trippy! lol!!!!
in 09, i got a call from a designer...
a few weeks ago...got a call from a family wanting portraits done....

I like these little teasers. ;)
Plus, the fact that i'm GOING to nyc in july...just makes me happy and happier.

I'm getting pumped about the BMG fun coming..the things i will learn & see...the friends i'll be with...those that have an understanding of art & all the things that i go through as an artist....Sometimes, i think you can be a photographer and not be artistic, you can follow a "formula" to do your job...and get things done...

That is great & all, but not all me.  I like the formulas, but i want something deeper and more meaningful...I am by no means a super-professional...but i am....

It is time to believe.

I've had such a hard time believing recently that God has his best for me...mostly cause of how quiet it has been...and how so much silence has seemed to overtake me.  I tend to find words to encourage me just when I need them.....in taking the time to be still...and really embrace the silence & stillness - is hard for me.  I know I need it, but I most of time am running from it or trying to create "noise". 

This latest art piece is a reminder...that I'm preparing to see myself the way God sees me...my sight will be restored...the empowerment of light will be ever-present even when I fail.  My only goal should be to just be a daughter of the King...and being a person that just relishes in rest and worship and time with God.  Am I there yet? I am on my way.

This piece is the last blinders coming off, so I can be truly soldified in this next phase of my life....and in the next level coming my way.

I wish I could share more...but i'm afraid i'm too tired tonite. :)

I'm really inspired by Lady Gaga right now....and i think i heard her new song today...Edge of Glory...man, that title speaks to me automatically.  God is always talking to me and pulling on my senses.  I sometimes wish i knew more...and sometimes wish i understood what is coming. I just don't...and it is time to ask some questions..and just rest at his feet. :)

Rest......is amazing!

I recently just went on vacation...our yearly, in fact.  We wait all year to take this trip...and it is just a restful unplugged from technology time for us!  I had a blast this time...nothing but vegetation on the beach or in the pool.  Never-ending food for all-inclusiveness.  A few self-timered portraits on the beach...and just some overall fun....

The thing about sunsets in mexico...they are NOT on the beach...they are on the other side.  The sunrise is the icing on the cake that you get in the Mexican Carribean. :)  We had a great time..and actually talked to more people on this trip than we ever have.  Lots of newlyweds & some anniversaries....:)  It was superly duper and I have to say it was nice to soak up the sounds & sun....all in one! :)  Thank you Riviera Maya.  We love ya!

When everything seems to go wrong....FOCUS on the things that go right!

Today was just ONE of those days.........
you know?

I was tired...and was tired all day.
It seemed like most of us were dealing with SOMETHING today.
Our days didn't go as we had planned.
The weather changed MID-traveling.
Plans kinda just went along...........and minute by minute.

So, we ended up in Paradise....
and this is what we captured today.

a lovely mother-to-be...only barely pregnant, but why does she have to wait for her pictures?  So we had fun today. :)

.......the weekend....

I did have a blast this weekend at the Ren Faire!  I was able to help share a glorious moment between a good friend & co-creator...Chrystine. :)  I was able to dress as a "fairy" to enjoy the good times and creativity all around me. :)  I am currently working on their images...but have a few up on my gallery at :  www.pinklightstore.com. 

Meanwhile, check out a couple of images I took for the bride....she is very very lovely and it was so cool to see all the personal touches she gave to her special day - with her daughter all "fairied" up...wings & everything...down to the details that they chose for their wedding attire.  (purchased separately, but matched perfectly!)

Making amazing out of seemingly "impossible" :)

It was a great day today! I hope to share some images with you as time goes on....of my little shoot today....meanwhile...the ARTS event for Japan went really well.  I wasn't able to really donate a piece for it, but found that a lot of my friends did - and excitedly so - I saw most of them tonite.  I love my new growing family.  I love seeing everyone connect in so many ways...and how we all come together to create....love...and do something MEANINGFUL to make a difference.

I have to say today was a nice ending to my long long weekend.  I know that everyone that worked and VOLUNTEERED their time/passions for this festival - you inspire me...and I hope you get some REST after the long hours you put in.  You are precious. :)  You give me hope as an artist to be around others and learn & grow and love.

"It is time"...

You know I still haven't written about my experiences at last week's conference...but what I can tell you is the pieces I picked up....was about "REIGNING" in my domain.  We have all been given a sphere...and help accountable for that purpose we have been given here on earth.  I didn't catch it all, but those words definitely stuck with me.  What I've been given charge over, I want to embrace. :)

So, tonite a surprise came about...that had been thought out and "planned"...but really...it happened differently than we expected, BUT still...happened.

I was taken back to the moments that I saw my friend Sherry get engaged....and how I got to know ahead of time....and watch it unfold...and tonite was no exception to what we felt that same day.  Just so happy to SHARE that moment. :)

I hope to share my thoughts soon about what I have learned so far...
but for now...I'm going to finish out today...celebrating my wedding anniversary...and go help people...and then Sunday, do my photo sessions in Deep Ellum.

I love my life and what I've been given.
The doors of opportunities, I'm staying attentive to them.

Vintage surprise part 1.

I call this part 1............because this was really a last minute process.........with the accessories at hand...thanks to Sabre and her GREAT growing collection of vintage type pieces. :) I just had to photograph her!  So, up next...phase 2..........i'm very excited!

THESE!!!!!!!!! are the days.

I know one's happiness and joy shouldn't be based solely on awesome things happening....
but today has started to be a GREAT DAY.

I setup a quick shoot with Maria...and was pleased that she was ready to work when I got there.....and I had brought in a dress that fit her PERFECT. I was amazed!

I'm trying more new things...and trying to play with lighting....we didn't get to take a trip to any other locations, so her yard had to do.  :)  Seeing green grass and the sunlight...makes me HAPPY inside!  Then to top it off...with gorgeous pictures to boot?  Today has started grand. :)

I hope that you are out there right now, getting inspired to make some wonderful SPRING images this season!!!!!

Rest........

I love when I stop to rest...because it means....a great time to myself...to hear the world around me....to not be superly consumed with everything....to do my laundry...(yay!)....to have my own adventure and see a person I hadn't seen in a year....(or more)....to know that this entire day is just for me....and that I need to clean out my car...so that I can have a full day of shooting tomorrow.

I'm just glad I have this time to really sit still for a while....
I actually shouldn't even be typing...I did so much work this weekend...that my hands started tingling...which is a sign of overuse...when it happens...I have to STOP using my hands on the keyboard...but here I am... heheh! I promise I'm signing off. :)

I'm glad my camera hand is my right hand...because it seems to be stronger than my left hand. :)

I hope you enjoy your day....

Life's challenges!

I'm thankful for challenges...but sometimes the emotional roller coaster ride that I take gets me on highs and lows when working....I get so many creative highs...then can plunge into lows of questions and doubts.  That is what I do love about life though.  To pretend you have it all together, is pretty false.  I am happy to say I'm never perfect...only trying my best!  I'm excited to share a brief image with you that was captured without the bride knowing.  :)  I have come to be very sneaky in what I do....and quite a few times I'm getting these *real* images when you least expect it.  I love doing that.  I get happy when I "get it"!

Someone asked me recently....besides photography...what are your interests? 
My interests are helping people...and serving people...to help them be more than they are...to rise above all circumstances....and shine like the bright light they can be.

I give you...my lovely bride...with whom a wedding I booked 24 hours in advance.
I was nervous and would probably give myself about a 90% average on how I tackled this *test*.  I can always improve...but knowing that I did get some amazingly real and stunning images...is what matters most to me.  Because to them, it is priceless and they will look at these forever. :)

the FUN in the life of a Wedding Photographer............

I LOVE shooting weddings!
Ok, see, I walk into so many challenges....LIGHTING challenges...but more often than not...my challenge is also working in cramped spaces!  Can you see the lovely shot I have here??? I'm so in love with this photo - because it shows what a great time I'm having.  I'm very animated and work very quickly sometimes.  Sometimes, I'm so sneaky - you are like WHAT? we are done? :) 

I'm thankful to have done quite a few weddings and failed many times, but also learn to embrace the success I get in capturing all those moments that make that day real. :)
